from me to you with peach colors

Monday morning and I have a moment to reflect before we start the wedding engine again for next weekend...things have been overwhelming and busy lately, but somehow we've managed to teach Nea how to "roll over." It's taken several days, and countless cheerios, but suddenly she gets it. Now we can invite our friends Jen and Nick over. (Their dog can do this trick, and hell if I'm going to have a dog that can't. Thank god we don't have children...

Trying our hands at apple picking upstate today, after a disappointing peach season. Every peach I've had this season has been pithy. Last week I had three in the fruit bowl. I bit into one...pithy. I took the second ...also pithy. All three were shit. Facing three torn up peaches on the cutting board I conjured Martha who appeared to me in all her glory and instructed me to combine rosemary from my cutting garden, a bourbon vanilla bean, gold dust and sugar. Toss this with the peaches and refrigerate over night. Then make a mini-double crust pie.

[FYI, THIS NEVER HAPPENS] Why is the pinot covered in flour? Because i don't have a rolling pin, and a full (unopened) bottle does the trick in a pinch. This pie was good, not great, but the peaches (cooked) redeemed themselves. Rosemary sugar keeps in the fridge and can be used for...i don't know actually - any ideas?

Above picture of the most beautiful pumpkin I ever saw...this picture would be the inspiration for a "color board" if I ever did that....

I'd like to redo my bedroom in your color board.

I cut and discarded 3 peaches myself the other day. What a disappointment! But when they are good....they are SOOOO good!
