more photos from the weekend, and internship

Here's a little more sweetness from the weekend. Of course you know Rifle, and you recognize Anna's brilliant illustrations on the menus, table numbers and programs.

So perhaps it was that we were overwhelmed this weekend, or maybe it's that we're hungry for new talent around here - either way Saipua is looking for a new intern. Ideally I'd love someone who is good at photoshop and can whiz their way around iPhoto...someone who does not mind getting dirty, washing buckets and who might occasionally perform tedious tasks like cleaning wax off 100 candlesticks. We all do these things around here, but with wedding season now there is just simply more to do. The internship is unpaid, but you will eat well on us, and take home flowers and soap each day you come. Looking for someone 1 or 2 days a week. Preferably Wednesday morning would be one of these days. To start immediately. Email sarah[at]saipua.com with the word INTERNSHIP in the subject line.

If you have any unusual talents or interests that we might be amused by, please include that in the email. Like do you make excellent puff pastry? Have an extensive record collection we can listen to? A brief resume is also helpful.

Thank you!

How fantastically fun it would be to intern at your shop. I would love to be able to. I think we all feel the same way about that. Too bad you don't have a shop in NC.

Stunning table settings - they may be some of my faves I've ever seen. I especially love the ivy down the table, it is so dreamy and romantic!

Can't intern myself, but helped widen my search by passing on the opportunity to my readers. Hope the search is successful!

Clearly lots of folks happy to work for you without pay. But I'm
curious, why you don't pay people who work for you? The flower business isn't that slow is it?
Don't you think people deserve to be paid for their time even when they're learning on the job?

Baby-Girl. Just checked out your lovely little Thoreau quote on the homepage (his birth and death were in my home state). "Walden" is essential reading...

And BTW: you DO know if washing buckets, candle wax p/u, etc. were VIRTUAL, I'd be all over that shit. Moreover, I know some photoshop kung-fu (It involved a bride. And acne.) And for YOUR soap and flowers, that'd pay enough. Peace out..V.

Love those antique/mercury glass vases. We just received a whole bunch for rentals. :) Gorgeous palette, as always!

passionflower - i am sensitive to the unpaid internship dilemma, but it works so postively for so many people. when i got my start in the art world years ago, i had two unpaid internships - they were not always glamourous but i got an invaluable peak inside the artworld - and ultimately it was the only way someone without connections could get a foot in the business.

Internships at Saipua offer hands-on experience in flower arranging, event production, and small business basics. yes, interns do some grunt work, but never anything that eric, amy or myself don't do as well.

lastly, every intern that I've had (granted only two!) has become a paid employee.

I hope you understand and appreciate my reasoning...
